ZEV Friendly Industry Survey

About the Study

B.C. is taking steps towards creating a cleaner transportation system. The province is investing in improved transit, regulating cleaner fuels, providing incentives for zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) and has set a 100 percent light-duty ZEV sales target for 2040. Increasing the demand for ZEVs cannot be achieved through government regulation and incentives alone. Consumers who are considering purchasing a ZEV have many of the same concerns as those who are looking to purchase an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle. Technology, cost, re-sale value, safety and maintenance issues are all considerations the consumer must address before making the final determination to own a ZEV.

To support the adoption of ZEVs, the Automotive Retailers Association (ARA) has engaged MNP to assist with research to inform the development of a certification program for the aftermarket automotive service industry that will help support consumer confidence and garner support of the industry.

The purpose of this survey is to gather information on the current available resources for industry; current training programs and practices; existing standards and guidelines for ZEVs; and any gaps in standards, guidelines and practices.
