The Garage Launches Grand Opening

With four generations of Tremblays dedicated to the automotive industry, this grand opening was by no means their first but it may have been their best. Many customers, both long-time and new, came out to show their support and show off their classic cars.

Customers came out to show-off their vintage cars!

It all began in 1931 when Art Tremblay established Tremblay Motors on 4th and Macdonald St., in Vancouver. In 1981, Fred Tremblay, the second of four generations, opened a second location at 16th and Macdonald St. with his sons, Ron and Steve. In 1985, the Tremblay family added a 24th Macdonald St. location, which became The Garage—it was this location that Ron and his brother built up until Ron took it over and eventually passed it on to his sons, the fourth generation.

Over the next couple of decades, the Tremblay family expanded and merged the businesses into one location and built a reputation based on expertise and a willingness to take on unusual projects. In 2013, they drove into the future by re-branding the business to better reflect the innovation and development within the industry.

Which brings us to current day with The Garage opening its new location in Burnaby. The new location was designed to be a three-bay purpose-filled facility with plenty of room for future expansion. It is filled with all the latest and most up-to-date diagnostic equipment with the software and tools capable of servicing electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as new vehicles still under warranty. With a combined 100+ years of knowledge and wisdom, their team is able to maintain and support classic and antique cars as well, keeping the long-standing tradition of “We can service almost anything you bring us” much alive in the modern and complex automotive service industry we know today.

“We take the time to understand our client’s wants, needs, and expectations prior to performing any service work or repairs so that our team of highly trained and skilled professionals can solve their concerns right the first time, every time,” said Jeffrey Tremblay, fourth-generation service manager. “That is truly what our family business and team is known for, getting it right the first time and offering many different solutions to suit each client’s unique requests and budget.

“We specialize in solving vehicle problems other facilities can’t,” Jeffrey said, explaining how they are often referred vehicles that other independent shops, and some dealerships, are unable to diagnose. “We’ll go to the ends of the earth to solve a client’s vehicle concerns.”

At the Garage, they believe that when it comes to vehicle repair, it is most important to address the customer’s needs. “We are one of the few shops that will take the time upfront to actually build a relationship with a customer to find out what they need or want from their vehicle, and what they use their car for,” said Jeffrey. “We then assist them in understanding how to get that desired performance out of their current vehicle, or make the educated and carefully thought through choice to buy a new vehicle to suit that need.”

It has been nearly a hundred years since the first Tremblay started working on cars. Since then the industry has changed a great deal but The Garage keeps automotive history alive with a vintage 1914 Ford Model T that the Tremblay family restored to “better than new” condition. It can often be seen taking clients for courtesy rides around the south Burnaby neighborhood.

With such a great business model, a dedicated team, and the new purpose-built central location, it is easy to see why many loyal customers have followed the Tremblay service team and many more are coming in each day.  The Garage is welcoming new customers from Burnaby and is grateful for the warm welcome they have received from the neighbourhood. Stay tuned for details about next year’s show and shine!
