Auto Glass 2018 AGM – Bringing together the industry’s influencers

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was an event that brought together all of your industry’s influencers? Well this year’s ARA Auto Glass AGM did that! We were happy to welcome guests from the Industry Training Authority (ITA), MNP Consulting and from ICBC.

The night started with Ken McCormack, President and CEO of the ARA briefing the group on ARA initiatives including the advocacy work being done with government and ICBC. Darren Cox, Auto Glass Division Advisor followed covering topics on the Certified AutoGlass Service program, advocacy efforts and the work being done with ICBC.

Susan Mowbray of MNP outlined the auto glass model shop concept that is being developed that will help industry demonstrate to government and ICBC the costs of operating an independent business. This concept gives a possibility of having real data on the finance of running a Glass business and can play an important role to justify compensation

Craig Woods of the ITA outlined the investment made to overhaul the Automotive Glass Technician ticket and reaffirmed the ITA’s commitment to working with industry to ensure the ticket remains worthwhile and representative of industry’s needs.

Kevin Walsh (Manager of MD for Glass program) and Lindsay Qually (PGO Manager) provided the group with an overview of ICBC operations including improvements that are being made to reduce the number of claims going into review. Kevin and Lindsay provided PGO analytics; from call volumes and wait times to missing parts issues and a commitment that ICBC is working towards fixing the system.

It was a chance to mix and mingle with your peers and talk one on one with the ITA, ICBC and others who affect your business.

Special thanks to Pat Frey of IGD and Alan Matthew of PGW whose generous sponsorship helped us to hold the AGM at Cascades Casino, including a fantastic dinner.
